DeBell Party

Many Brothers gathered at John and Connie DeBell’s home for a party the evening before the Virginia Tech / WVU game. Eleven brothers got together for dinner and memories. John reports, “They came from Dallas, Idaho, New Jersey, and from across Virginia.  As we caught up on old times, it was the consensus of the group that during our time in the late 60’s, there were about 30 Brothers active in the Fraternity.  The fact that Ten Brothers out of a total Fraternity membership  of 30 were  present  50 years later is fairly significant. The wives of those brothers from Virginia also joined us.  As you can imagine, after dinner and a few drinks, all the stories  of our Fraternity life came out.  It was amazing what everyone remembered, though some of the stories certainly were enhanced with time.  Many of us went to the WVA game and tailgated together.”

Alumni Support & Leadership

From John DeBell:

I got my copy of “The Link” earlier today. After being shocked by the events earlier this year that resulted in the closing of the active chapter, I was delighted by the Alumni Boards actions to save the house and put together and implement actions to stabilize the situation and move forward . I fully support all your actions. I wanted to personally thank you, the other Board members and the other Alumni that stepped up to mitigate the damage, develop a plan to move forward , and to implementing that plan. I will be sending a gift to Sam for the Alumni Support Fund.

Thanks for your leadership

John

Bart Evans – Omega

Bart Evans

From Louis Evans – March 9, 2017

For Bart Evans, VT and the very young men who became his Brothers were the essential and profound basis and catapult for who he became as a man.

His passing this year on January 28th coexists with what seems to be this other passing. However, a circle continues and, like the class ring and a wedding ring , becomes stronger with the pounding from a skilled goldsmith. Many of you are the goldsmiths who can dig the ring out of the lake or garden or some forgotten place and pound or even reforge it into it’s once shining self.
